CAPRD Mission

Work with the City of Canby, community and stakeholder groups to expand and support Park and Recreation programs that meet the needs of Canby, now and in the future.

The Canby Area Parks and Recreation District is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving our community.

Governance

The Canby Area Parks and Recreation District (CAPRD) is governed by the Board of Directors composed of five (5) members and elected at-large in May election odd number years. The members are elected to serve a four-year term, with two elected in one election and three in the next election. The Board operates under ORS Chapter 198 and ORS Chapter 266.

The Canby Area Parks and Recreation District would be responsible for providing, coordinating and administering various services and programs that enrich patrons' leisure time and provide positive and constructive alternatives for youth and adults and seniors with free time. These consist of:

  • Sport activities
  • Aquatic programs
  • Physical fitness programs
  • Art, Drama activities
  • Special Population activities
  • Crafts for all ages
  • Latch Key program for youth
  • Teen programs

The District would also provide open space and vegetation necessary for the health of the community.

The five values above "CAPRD" (cooperation, administration, professionalism, responsiveness and dedication) are the values the District will use in delivery of services and facilities to the patrons of the District.
