Map & Geographical Boundaries

District Boundaries

The original District boundaries matched the Canby School District boundaries. A review of past levy voting patterns indicated strong support from citizens within the City of Canby, while citizens outside the Urban Growth Boundary did not see the same value. In response, the Board successfully reduced the CAPRD boundaries in 2023 to essentially match the Urban Growth Boundary of the City of Canby.

As of 2023, the District serves approximately 18,000 residents with a median age of 38.7 years.

Transportation & Planning

District residents primarily rely on automobiles for transportation. While public transportation is available, it does not operate during the hours needed for many community activities. For this reason, future planning of parks and recreation facilities must be coordinated with the roadway system to ensure proper accessibility and safety for participants. New site locations will be carefully selected to minimize travel time from major residential areas and reduce conflicts with traffic patterns.

Partnership with City of Canby

In August 2022, the City of Canby updated their Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan. In this Master Plan, their number one goal is to "...support CAPRD to assist with funding parks and recreation services".

The City of Canby has also adopted an Emerald Necklace concept plan, which envisions connecting new bike and pedestrian trails along the Willamette and Molalla Rivers with the existing Logging Road Trail to form a large loop around the perimeter of Canby. This plan will provide residents with an alternative to automobile transportation.
